Soy You Say No Soy

Yesterday I found out that yet another food is off limits to me - soy. I was quite upset, as I really like a lot of soy products. I have hypothyroidism, and apparently soy impacts negatively on this condition, as well as causing difficulties with the absorption of the thyroid supplement medication. Whereas I occasionally play around with gluten & lactose, there is no way I'll be going back to soy. I can deal with other reactions for the sake of a pulla, but no way with my thyroid - I was only diagnosed half a year ago, and I like having energy and nice hair way too much for tofu!
I borrowed Maeve's iPod the other day - I was quite quick to pass over the majority of what was on it (sorry Maeve!) but I got slightly hooked on Black Eyed Peas. I've been listening to them non stop for the past two days! Here's two of my favourite tracks, they're so good to sing along to.

Where You Wanna Go - Black Eyed Peas

Mare - Black Eyed Peas

This is nothing ground breaking outfit-wise, I was more interested in getting an overexposure effect. You can find this on Lookbook HERE.

  5. I have the same problem, but I had two different doctors tell me that it was okay to eat soy if it was at least four hours after and two hours before taking the hypothyroid medication. I can't blame you for being cautious, but I'm wondering who/what told you to avoid soy completely? That might not be entirely necessary...but then again, I love my tofu and soy milk and can't imagine living without them.

  8. I'm hypo too... did not know about the soy. I do not eat it often anyways... I do not have a thyroid though because of cancer, doctors removed it. Great pics!

  10. A lot of healthy foods have soy in them because the people who make the food think that soy is soo good for you, when it's really not! Too much soy is bad for your thyroid, like you said. I wish that they would learn that it's not so good for you and replace it with something else. I try not to eat anything with soy, but it's hard sometimes because so many healthy foods have soy in them.

  12. I don't know if you can get it in Ireland, but certainly in the UK/Sweden Arla do a brilliant range of lactose free milk products, they turned my little lactose intolerant life around. Assuming you're not vegan.
